This is helpful information for starters of the series or just for general help.
Summary
Guardians of Ga'Hoole is about a kingdom of knightly owls that fight for good against the evil Pure Ones that think the Barn Owl family are the only pure owls. St. Aggies is another evil kingdom in the owl world, stealing eggs and owl chicks from their nests to hypnotise(moonblink) them into complete obeidience. THey also take the names of the owls and give them nubers instead, like 12-8 and are told never to ask questions. The owls of the great Ga'Hoole tree teach younger owls in whats called a chaw, they learn how to do a specific thing.
Chaws
Colliering/Weather Interpretation Chaw: One owl and its assistant teach this chaw. The students learn how to fly in the most extreme weather and winds, as well as learn to dive for hot coals in forest fires to make fire and metals with.
Navigation Chaw:One owl teaches the owls of the chaw to use the stars as a way of navigating the skys and getting around. THey learn all the constellations and what they mean.
Search And Rescue Chaw:This noble chaw goes out at night and looks out for stranded or lost owlets and owls. They bring them back to the great tree and raise them there. THe TRacking Chaw often work together with the Search And Rescue Chaw.
Tracking Chaw:These owls are mostly small owls like burrowing owls. They often do the ground work for the search and rescue chaw and help track down owlets by using signs of feathers. They also do some digging aand burrowing for the great tree.
Ga'Hooleology Chaw:This chaw learns about how to take care of the great tree and about the history of Ga'Hoole. They do alot of reading and writing and do the work for the great tree to stay healthy.
Metals Chaw:This chaw is taught by the blacksmith of the great tree. You learn how to be a blacksmith and form metals into battle claws and more.
Owl Vocabulary
Racdrops!:Crap!
Flint Mop:Like a detention.
Flecks:small metals that make ones mind buzz and soon enough, shatters the owl.
Shattered:Ones eyes have a glassy look to them, they are caught in a dream world, not sure of whats fake and whats real. They are in a form of hypnotism.
Gizzard:Like an owls mind almost, it is hard to explain but owls feel things in their gizzards sometimes.
Yarp:Like throwing up a small pellet the shape of an owls gizzard, the pellets often contain bones and other things.
Glaux:The owl god.
Glaumora:Owl heaven.
Hagsmere:Owl Hell.
Gluax in glaumora!:A swear or exclamation.
Scroom:A ghost that didn't make it to Glaumora because they still have buisness on earth.
Battle Claws:Made from metal, they sheath your talons and are very dangerous.
Fire Claws:Worse then battle claws, they have burning coals at the end of tehm and often bend the one who wears its talons out of shape.
Hagsfiend:An owl that is totally evil, they have bat like wings and have a special power to make others turn evil when they look into the hagsfiends eyes.
Moon Blinking:The owls of St.Aggies use this to make owls completly obedient. They make the owls walk in the moonlight and make them sleep in pits and make them sit up and face the moon.
Moon Blaze Chamber:This is a terrible place that not many owls can resist the moon. It is a huge pit where the moon shines right in, it is apunishment for unmoonblinked owls.
Broody:A female with eggs.
Brood:Group of eggs that one female has laid.
Nest Maid:A snake that serves owls out of free will and beleive owls are the most noble of birds. THey often take care of owl nests as well as work at the great tree.
Ryb:A teacher at the great tree, they teach chaws.
Slipgizzle:A spy.
Hireclaw:An owl that is payed and hired to work for the pure ones mostly.
Turnfeather:Betrayer.
Krackish:A language used in the Northern Kingdoms, the ones who speak it often have a strong accent.
Pure Guard Luietenant:THere are two of these for each of the pure ones leaders. They are like highest rank under the leaders.
Pilgrim Owl:An owl that lives away from other owls, alone. They help any wounded owls they see, they are kind hearted and very smart.
Yeep:When an owl is so shocked, or so afraid, they fold their wings and fall to the ground.
Yoicks:Crazy.
Your Frinking me off!:You Pissing me off!
Starsight:Able to see the future in a dream.
Firesight:able to see visions in the hear of a fire.
Spronk:Forbidden.
